I was able to get it to work with WEP. Just make sure that you use a full WEP key and not one of the "WEP Passwords" that some routers let you use.

Good find, I totally missed that on Ars! Apparently no brilliance in business strategy can overcome a nonexistent market! Unfortunately, this is one more strike against printed media which may only survive if it pools the handful of journalists who actually have any talent into a few publications :)

I'm surprised no one - not even you Andrew, has commented on this post since the "unfortunate" demise of The Printed Blog. I think Ars Technica puts it best, "Printed Blog Publication Fails: World Dies of Shock".

Curious if you ever got working with WEP? I am trying to use with CDMA / DSL bridge product called Airave. Need the GPS antenna in an upper window and DSL is in the basement. Hope to use the bridge between the ethernet connections on the modem and the Airave. Got the control screen and made all updates (i think), but never connected to the Access Point. using WEP on several devices, would rather not reconfigure everything. I will try again tonight to see if I fat fingered an input.

Thanks for posting this! I was about to flash my WMB54G with DD-WRT but you saved me a ton of time. I plugged the ethernet cable into the bridge and it just worked. Fantastic!

@mike Man, it has really been a wild ride :) I am definitely thankful for all of the people that I have and continue to learn from every day.

@hexar Yea, that is exactly what this is. This is the same setup that hosting providers use in shared hosting environments. Learning the internals of Apache is really useful because there is so much power there. However for anything more involved (like mod_rewrite) it is usually just faster to implement the functionality in your application than to try to figure out how it to configure it.

I used to spend a lot of time tweaking Apache conf files to do fun stuff like this. Is this basically the same as setting up several virtual subdomains but for localhost, or am I misunderstanding?
